UH West Oʻahu professor publishes new book

University of Hawaiʻi West Oʻahu Professor Ross Prizzia ('71) recently published Climate Change and Disaster Management by Sentia Publishing.

In Climate Change and Disaster Management, he discusses how the Earth’s climate system is unequivocally warming, and it is extremely likely humans are causing most of it through activities such as deforestation and burning fossil fuels that increase concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

The book also covers topics related to climate change preparedness, response and recovery, adaptation and mitigation as well as the impact of climate change on sustainable development. Best practices of disaster resilience related to climate change are presented in the context of public policy and practice at the federal, state and local level in the United States and the Asia Pacific region.

Prizzia is professor of public administration and director of disaster preparedness and emergency management programs at UH West Oʻahu.
