Alumni group provides Veteran Honor Cords

The UH West Oʻahu Alumni ‘Ohana will pick up the cost of Veteran Honor Cords for graduating veterans, military students and ROTC cadets as well as sponsor a pre-commencement ceremony photo session.

The red white and blue cords are available from the UH West Oʻahu Bookstore to students who have applied for graduation and are either a honorably discharged student veteran, currently serving military student (active duty, National Guard, member of reserve forces) or ROTC Cadets. The cords normally would be purchased for $13.

“We are proud to recognize our graduating Student Veterans with the Veteran Honor Cord,” said David Dinh (West O‘ahu, AS ’12; BA ’13), a UH West Oʻahu Business Administration instructor, veteran, and vice president of the UH West Oʻahu Alumni ‘Ohana.

“This cord represents our gratitude for your service to our country and (is given) in recognition of your achievements.”

The UH West O‘ahu Alumni ‘Ohana seeks to continue this honored tradition of distributing cords for every commencement. If you are interested in supporting these veteran cords and other alumni activities, please visit giving.uhfoundation.org/funds/12020114.

If you are an alumni veteran and would like to get involved with supporting our future student and alumni veterans, please contact [email protected] for more details.
