Kapiʻolani CC Celebrates 10

The motto for Kapiʻolani Community College Alumni and Friends Association (KCCAFA) is “Persevering for generations through love and friendship.”

On October 24, the KCCAFA did exactly that, over 100 alumni and friends gathered for Kapiʻolani’s annual alumni dinner expressing love and reigniting friendships. Chancellor Leon Richards said, “Ten years ago, we could not envision ten years of dedication and fellowship among our alumni. Tonight, I am convinced that our alumni are special people and I am confident they will continue to spread the word of this noble College that is a home to many. I hope the future will see that the Alumni Chapter becomes indomitable in all its endeavors.”

The food, prepared by the College’s award-winning chefs, was exceptional. The atmosphere was charged with positive energy. The feeling of aloha was palpable.

KCCAFA Distinguished Alumnus Paul Noborikawa humbly accepted his recognition and thanked everyone for the honor bestowed on him.

Two alumni were show stoppers for the evening: alumna Taimane Gardner sang and performed on her electric ‘ukulele to support alumnus Nainoa Thompson who is at sea sailing on the Hōkūleʻa for his Mālama Honua worldwide tour.

One alumna said, “The evening was a feel good moment. The program was not too long, not too short, but just right. I have not missed any of the Alumni membership dinners, and each year, I can feel the friendships getting stronger. I will continue to come.”
