Shidler: Executive Vineyards 2016

The diverse and complex flavors of Europe, the Americas, South Pacific and Japan were the stars of this year’s Executive Vineyards. A wide variety of nearly 200 wines, sakes and craft beers were available for tasting at the annual friend-raiser which was organized by the Shidler Alumni Association on March 10 at the Royal Hawaiian.

To complement the evening’s tasting selections, nine of Hawai‘i’s top eateries prepared spectacular dishes at a beautiful outdoor food festival held on the Royal Hawaiian’s Ocean Lawn. Guests dined on bite-sized samplings of Azure’s Seared Day Boat Scallop, Da Hawaiian Poke Co.’s Jake Shimabukuro Bowl and MW Restaurant’s Zen Zai Meringue to name just a few. Other featured restaurants included Alan Wong’s Honolulu, Beachhouse at the Moana, HASR Bistro, Hy’s Steak House, Morimoto Waikiki and The Royal Hawaiian.

Also, this year’s VIP ticket holders were treated to a special selection of hand-picked wines rated 90 points and above. And not to be forgotten was the exciting silent auction which had bidders competing on everything from luxury hotel stays to HawaiianMiles.

Executive Vineyards drew more than 500 alumni and friends and raised approximately $30,000 to benefit student scholarship at the Shidler College of Business.
