Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from and what are you doing now?
My name is Saige, I am the owner of FERN, a luxury florist based in Stafford, VA. I am originally from Kaua’i.
What motivated you to start your own business?
I always wanted to be my own boss and create my own success.
What is your favorite part of your work?
Growing my business and watching many different opportunities come my way because of my ideas and hard work.
Why did you choose to attend UH?
I wanted to stay in my home state and there really isn't a better place to study tropical agriculture!
What is a favorite memory from your time at UH?
I've always found the atmosphere of sitting in a packed lecture hall, surrounded by hundreds of like-minded individuals with similar goals, to be incredibly cool!
What advice would you give to an incoming or current UH student?
It's crucial to invest time in internships, club participation, and actively exploring your chosen field in school. Many students enter college with a specific major in mind, only to graduate with a completely different one. College is a transformative time where interests and passions often evolve and expand. By immersing yourself in various experiences, you not only gain practical skills but also clarity about your career path and personal interests.
