Valerie Kan, Digital Marketing Manager at Disney+
Meet Valerie Kan, Digital Marketing Manager at Disney+ and graduate of the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa Shidler College of Business, BS ʻ16. Valerie shares with us the importance of networking as a student and the impact that the University of Hawai'i has had on her path to where she is currently.
“During my time at school we were required to do two 400 hour internships and I really feel like that prepared me and gave me the experience I needed for post-grad while I was applying to jobs” she says. “I feel like I got a head start at UH.”
Valerie was drawn to the entertainment industry because of the fast paced environment with new and exciting things always happening. Valerie has worked on TV shows like Shogun, The Kardashians, Only Murders in the Building, and Welcome to Wrexham just to name a few.
“I definitely recommend consuming as much content as possible.” She advises students who are interested in the entertainment industry. “It's great to know what's out there, especially all the competition and all the other studios.”
