Victor Bruce J. Tolentino (Mānoa, PhD ’86) began his economics education in the Philippines, earning his bachelor of arts and his master of science in economics from Xavier University – Ataneo de Cagayan, a master of arts in economics from Xavier University, and a master of science from the University of the Philippines School of Economics. He earned his doctorate in economics at the UH Mānoa College of Social Sciences.
After serving in many positions, including the Asia Foundation’s Chief Economist and director of Economic Reform and Development, Tolentino is now a member of the Monetary Board of Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas, advising on agriculture-related issues and food security.
