UH Mānoa alumna Kim Binsted

After obtaining her undergraduate degree in physics, PhD in artificial intelligence and working for the Sony research labs in Japan, Kim Binsted decided to get back into the world of academia. She first found a home at the UH Mānoa Astrobiology Institute which eventually led her to obtaining her MS in planetary geology from UH Mānoa.

Now a professor at UH Mānoa’s Information and Computer Science Department and principal investigator for Hawai‘i Space Exploration Analog and Simulation (HI-SEAS), Binsted shares more about her experience studying and working in Hawai‘i, her interest in space research and the importance of the HI-SEAS project.
