On April 9, 2017, the Library and Information Science Alumni Group held a workshop titled “Life After the LIS Program” in which current students heard different perspectives from librarians at different institutions, including the Hawaii State Public Library and UH System.
Thirty-seven registered for the event and several others watched in real time through the live stream link. Sessions were presented on job hunting, Hawaii State Public Library application process and interviews, cover letters and CVs for academic positions, traditional and Skype interviews, and power poses and professional tips for a more confident you.
The Alumni Group is comprised of all graduates of the program. All LIS students automatically become members upon graduation. The Group maintains a continuing education program and an electronic listserv (mailing list), awards scholarships to students and working librarians continuing their education, sponsors reunions and other social activities, and promotes the general welfare and professional growth of all LIS graduates.
