Hawaiian Telcom promotes Brandon Onishi

Hawaiian Telcom has promoted Brandon Onishi (Mānoa, BBA ’00) to Director – Government Sales.

As Director – Government Sales, Onishi oversees Hawaiian Telcom’s government sales and sales operations functions, supporting the unique IT and communications needs of government agencies - federal, state, city and military. He and his team develop and maintain strategic partnerships within the government sector while supporting some of the state’s largest IT and communications systems. 

Onishi, who has more than 20 years of professional experience in IT, began his career at Hawaiian Telcom as a field technician in 2001. Over the years he earned numerous advanced technical certifications, gaining recognition as an outstanding honoree by the Pacific Center for Advanced Technology Training. He moved on to engineering, sales and sales management positions. His previous position was Senior Manager – Government Sales.

A graduate of Moanalua High School, Onishi earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Management Information Systems from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. He is a member of Kapi‘olani Community College’s Information Technology Advisory Board and is a regular guest lecturer for the college’s IT program. He also volunteers as a mentor to high school students through the Center for Tomorrow’s Leaders. In 2017, Onishi was honored with the Department of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve’s Patriot Award.
