Alumna appointed to the Board of Advisors for The Salvation Army

Billie Takaki Lueder, executive assistant to the chancellor and director of communications & external affairs for Honolulu Community College, has been appointed to the Board of Advisors for The Salvation Army – Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Division.

At Honolulu CC, she is primarily responsible for media and public relations on behalf of the college. She has successfully developed a comprehensive Marketing & Communications Outreach strategic plan as well as a Social Media plan to outreach with prospective and current students as well as alumni and the community. Her team has won several awards for marketing design.

As an independent communications strategist, Lueder has serviced a large variety of local and national clients as an independent communications strategist that include the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, St. Andrew’s Priory School, Kamehameha Schools Extension Services Division, Good Beginnings Alliance, Institute for Native Pacific Education and Culture (INPEACE), Hawai‘i’s P-3 Initiative, TH!NK LLC, Dow AgroSciences and Farrington High School.

Lueder is a graduate of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa with a masters in public administration (’07) and a BA in English (’98). As Miss Hawai‘i 2000, she traveled across the state and abroad promoting Hawai‘i and the benefits of peer mentoring. A seasoned entertainer, model, and spokesperson, Lueder continues to share her talents and mentor others.
