Class notes: Jacy L. Youn (JD ’10)

AIA Honolulu, the local chapter of the American Institute of Architects, has appointed UH Mānoa alumna Jacy L. Youn (JD ’10) to Executive Vice President. In her position, Youn is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of the organization, its daily operations, and the execution of its mission. In this capacity, she’ll provide value to AIA Honolulu’s 800+ members, its stakeholders, and the design community at large.

Youn has a diverse background in communications, law, nonprofit management, and journalism, as well as a long history of work with various charitable organizations. Prior to joining AIA Honolulu, she served as Strategic Alliances Manager of OpTerra Energy Services and Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii’s Kauai Branch. She also served as Corporate Communications Manager & AVP of Central Pacific Bank, a publicly traded financial institution based in Honolulu and as a legislative research attorney at the Hawaii State Capitol. She has also worked as a legal fellow at the World Organization for Human Rights in Washington, D.C., and has extensive experience as a journalist, most recently as Managing Editor of Hawaii Business magazine, where she spent seven years reporting on Hawai‘i’s most pressing socioeconomic issues.

“Jacy’s diverse skill set coupled with her high leadership caliber will be a great asset to the organization and we are excited for her to continue leading AIA Honolulu down a road of successes and providing the very most for our membership,” said AIA Honolulu Board President Geoff Lewis.

Youn earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism with a minor in writing from the University of Northern Colorado, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa William S. Richardson School of Law. She is an alumnus of both the Pacific Century Fellows and Leadership Kauai programs and currently serves on the steering committee of the Downtown Athletic Club of Hawaii.
