Medical Assistant - Hina Mauka

Location: Kaneohe, Hawaii

Position Summary: FULL-TIME, 40 hrs/week. M-F 6am to 2:30pm

Under supervision of the Registered Nurse, carries out the direct therapeutic interaction with clients, in accordance with the Hina Mauka policies and procedures. The therapeutic interaction is designed to bring about the transmittal of education, direction and support to the clients, resulting in the increased level of functioning and an amelioration of the damaging effects of substance abuse/dependence and, for dually diagnosed clients, the damaging effects of serious mental illness. Also shares in the responsibility for the safety and well-being of the Hina Mauka clients and protects the confidentiality of clients and client records in accordance with all applicable federal
regulations. Consults and collaborates with the Medical Director, TA Supervisor and Manager of Adult Services on client care and receives clinical direction

Essential Functions
1. Monitors clients taking of medication and the maintenance of the Medication Log
2. Maintains client records in accordance with Hina Mauka policies and procedures and in compliance with all state and federal laws, licensing and accreditation standards, and contract stipulations. (Wits -ICD 10codes)
3. Consults with and reports to Associate Medical Director regarding client conditions and need of medical attention. Prep appointments for doctors, schedule Zoom appts for NID's.
4. Arranges for client transportation for emergency medical care as directed by medical staff
5. Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, monitor detox clients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart
6. Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed is available in patients’
medical records prior to their appointment
7. Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments,
prepare sterilization as required
8. Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to
patient/physician/pharmacy calls. Assist clients with outside medical appts. Assist clients with calls to update insurance (address PCP, obtain Lab results)
9. Takes meals, medication and snacks for Plan B on quarantine.

Education/Experience and Training:
1. Current MA Certification or RNA Certification preferred.
2. CPR and first Aid certified.

3. Valid Driver's license with clean abstract.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Ability to work with and relate to clients with substance abuse disorders, including dually diagnosed.
2. Ability to respond calmly and efficiently to stressful situations with crisis
management skills.
4. Well organized and able to maintain accurate concise records and document in the electronic and physical chart.
