Deconstruction Project Developer

Location: Honolulu, HI

Job Purpose:  Sell our Deconstruction Services to potential clients by proactively garnering Deconstruction projects. Ensure set budget and operating goals are achieved by advancing sustainable efforts and objectives. Provide leadership that promotes a safe, balanced, productive, cohesive, positive, and resilient workplace.

Compensation and benefits:

  • $48,000 annual salary 
  • Performance bonus - 10% of monthly salary if goals are met.

Qualifications:

  • Outstanding interpersonal, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, Google Workspace, and good administrative skills. 
  • Prior experience within the re-use or construction industry.
  • Construction or building material knowledge.
  • Demonstrate strong skills in organization and time management, positive communication, motivational leadership, problem-solving, making timely and informed decisions, record keeping, and team building. 
  • Experience facilitating information sharing and prioritizing in a collaborative setting. 
  • Ability to maintain standards of Re-use Hawaiʻi.


 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond to incoming phone and email inquiries for Deconstruction Services.
  • Conduct site visits to collect information and communicate with potential clients.
  • Prepare and implement deconstruction proposals including estimating project costs and coordinating third-party donation appraisals. 
  • Collaborate with Deconstruction Program Manager and Deconstruction Team Leaders in all aspects of the Deconstruction Program.
  • Apply proactivity to establish projects.
  • Establish and achieve financial objectives by preparing project budgets, scheduling, approving expenditures, initiating corrective actions, and change orders.
  • Organize project databases and records including keeping project and admin files and tracking project development activity and success. 
  • Maintain and promote the integrity of Deconstruction Services; including compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and coordination with government regulatory agencies.
  • Meet weekly or as needed with the Deconstruction Program Manager for updates on department needs and for reporting on all active projects and potential clients. 
  • Participate in management team meetings and leadership training.
  • Collaborate with and practice good communication with the entire Deconstruction Services department, as well as the overall organization. Participate in department meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Monitor public works and large private projects and pursue opportunities when reusable building materials are present. 
  • Outreach to contractors, building managers, and other community members to inform them of our services and to see if they have projects we can help with. 
  • Build and manage relationships with contractors, clients, community members, and meaningful members of the industry. 
  • Carry forward the vision of the Deconstruction Services program by developing and guiding the implementation of strategic and/or operational plans, projects, and systems for the department’s mission fulfillment and financial goals. 
  • Produce monthly reports to assess the program’s success and challenges.
  • Relay client communications including complaints to the Program Manager
  • Seek out the Program Manager  and/or other support staff for advice and feedback if faced with a difficult or unfamiliar situation in the workplace.
