2018 Distinguished Alumni Awards Nomination Criteria

Eligibility

1. Minimum of five (5) years of full‐time professional employment
2. Completion of 50 percent of his/her educational program with Honolulu Community College; or be a recipient of an Associate’s degree from Honolulu Community College in one of the four areas:
   • Transportation and Trades
     • Aeronautics Maintenance Technology
     • Architectural, Engineering & CAD Technologies
     • Auto Body Repair & Painting
     • Automotive Mechanics Technology
     • Carpentry Technology
     • Commercial Aviation
     • Diesel Mechanics Technology
     • Electrical Installation & Maintenance Technology
     • Fire & Environmental Emergency Response
     • Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Technology
     • Sheet Metal & Plastics Technology
     • Small Vessel Fabrication & Repair
     • Welding Technology
   • Communication and Services
     • Administration of Justice
     • Communication Arts
     • Computing, Electronics, & Networking Technology
     • Cosmetology
     • Early Childhood Education Program
     • Fashion Technology
     • Human Services
     • Music & Entertainment Learning Experience
     • Occupational & Environmental Safety Management
   • University College
     • Liberal Arts
   • Apprenticeship
     • Applied Trades

Nomination Information

• Anyone, including alumni, staff, faculty, and friends of Honolulu CC, may nominate a candidate
• Self‐nominations are welcome. The names of nominators will not be revealed to anyone, not even the judges
• The nomination package will be submitted to the Selection Committee
• Selection will be based on the materials submitted by the nominator
• Nomination form must be completed and submitted with the nomination package
• No more that two (2) pages clearly demonstrating, in narrative form, on 8.5 x 11 paper the nominees qualification:
  • Professional accomplishments
  • Contributions to advancing their career field or industry
  • Service to the community
• No more than three (3) additional pages may be submitted with further information such as letters of support, copies of agreements or projects, and other items to show the nominees contribution

2018 Community Partner Nomination Criteria

Purpose

To honor the valuable partnerships that exist between Honolulu Community College and its supporters. Award winners are selected based on their initiative, leadership, and contributions that embody the spirit of genuine partnership and benefit the overall college community.

Eligibility

1. Nominees demonstrate exceptional commitment and extensive efforts to furthering the College’s educational goals and mission
2. Organizations and individuals are eligible for this award
3. Partnerships must have been in operation for two or more years

Nomination Information

• Anyone, including alumni, staff, faculty, and friends of Honolulu CC, may nominate a candidate
• The nomination package will be submitted to the Selection Committee
• Selection will be based on the materials submitted by the nominator

Nomination Package

• Nomination form
• No more that two (2) pages clearly demonstrating, in narrative form, on 8.5 x 11 paper the nominees:
  • Connection to the College
  • Contribution to advancing the College’s educational goals and mission
• No more than three (3) additional pages may be submitted with further information such as letters of support, copies of agreements or projects, and other items to show the nominee’s contributions
