Alumna returns to UH Hilo

Alumna Danielle Takeshita ('12) returns to the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo this month for a public talk and book signing for her debut novelette, 5 Senses.

Takeshita describes 5 Senses as a young adult urban fantasy about a friendship between Jaime and Iris. Iris was adopted at a very early age, and the story centers around their search for her family.

Takeshita grew up in Los Angeles, California, and moved to Hawai‘i in 1997. She says UH Hilo feels like a “second home,” where she was inspired to write, to travel, and to embrace culture shock as a learning experience. She currently is a candidate for a master of science in oriental medicine from the Institute of Clinical Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Waimea, Hawai‘i Island.
