UH Hilo Distinguished Alumni Awards
On February 27, the UH Hilo Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Service Awards recognized outstanding alumni who have used their education to excel professionally, provide inspirational leadership to others, and provide service for the benefit of UH and the community.
The honorees this year are:
Distinguished Alumni honorees:
- Joseph Estrella, Jr. (’71) - Former UH Hilo interim athletic director and baseball coach
- Barbara Takase (’76) - District Court judge of the Third Circuit of Hawai‘i
- Noreen Yamane (’71) - Retired Hawai‘i Community College chancellor
Distinguished Service honoree:
- Jim Kelly - standing service to UH Hilo and the community
