"Women's Issues in the Workplace" is an event designed to address important issues faced by women as they prepare for and are involved in the workplace. Delivered as a collaborative effort between the UH Hilo Mentorship Program, the UH Hilo Women's Center and the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) the event features a panel of human resource professionals and leaders from HPM, Big Island Toyota, YWCA, and Hawai`i Radiologic Associates. The panel discussion and interactive session will address questions such as:

  • How can women expect to be treated differently from men in the recruiting process and in the workplace?
  • What steps can women be taking now to help overcome these challenges?
  • What is the ‘glass ceiling’? Does it exist? What can young women do to break through it?

Held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 in UCB 127, from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m., the event is open to the general public as well as members of the UH Hilo community.   Refreshments will be provided, but participants must register to participate by November 12.
