Hawai‘i’s Hōkūle’a and Education Expo

In 2014, the Polynesian Voyaging Society’s (PVS) traditional sailing canoe Hōkūle‘a embarked on its historic Mālama Honua Worldwide Voyage, sparking a wave of excitement and media coverage across the globe. With its successful return home in 2017, Hawai‘i is learning the lessons of this epic voyage and experiencing a revival of pride in the relevance of its indigenous wisdom.
PVS has partnered with Hawaiian Airlines, 'Imiloa Astronomy Center, the County of Hawai'i, the Grand Naniloa Hotel, Friends of Hōkūle'a and Hawai‘iloa, and the University of Hawai'i at Hilo to thank everyone in Hawai'i for their tremendous support of the Worldwide Voyage.
Free tours of the canoe and an education expo will be offered to the public on Saturday, April 21st from 9am – 5pm in Hilo at the Wailoa Pier. For more details, please visit www.imiloahawaii.org.
