UH Hilo Alumni & Friends Association – 10th Annual Alumni Scholarship Golf Tournament
On the beautiful Saturday morning of October 26, 2013, more than 70 golfers graced the greens at the Waikoloa Beach Course in support of the 10th Annual UH Hilo Alumni Scholarship Golf Tournament. The tournament was open to all alumni, supporters, and golf fanatics with proceeds going to support the efforts of the UH Hilo Alumni & Friends Association which include awarding alumni scholarships and organizing networking events between alums and the community.
First-time chairperson and UH Hilo alumnus, Adams Agtarap (BA ’95) said, "As the chair for this Scholarship Golf tournament, the experience has been exciting as well as rewarding to lead a team of passionate members and volunteers. Being a proud alumnus, it's a tremendous honor to work with the local community. Their generous contributions and staunch support are vital to the maintenance of this worthy cause.”
Tournament sponsors included First Hawaiian Bank, Merrill Lynch, Takamine Construction, Hawaiian Telcom, Aiona Car Sales, Ricoh, Hawai‘i Electric Light Company, R.M. Towill Corporation, WCIT Architecture, Wallace T. Oki and Jay T. Kimura. “We are grateful to all the sponsors, donors and individuals who have made this tournament a continuing success,” said Agtarap.
The event included a delicious local-style buffet lunch and prizes for all, from 1st place to 37th place winners, such as complimentary rounds of golf, hotel stays, and restaurant gift certificates.
