Road Warriors Tailgate: UH vs. UNLV

“This year’s tailgate was a one of the best tailgates we have ever had. The crowd was spirited, and the food and entertainment was a hit,” according to David Lebby, vice president/general manager, California Hotel & Casino/Main Street Station Hotel, Casino & Brewery.

More than 1,000 UH Rainbow Warrior football fans attended the tailgate party prior to the UH vs. UNLV football game. The tailgate, held in the Main Street Station Casino parking lot, was sponsored by The California Hotel and Casino and the Main Street Station Casino – the unofficial headquarters for Hawai‘i fans who traveled to Las Vegas to attend the game. Tailgaters were treated to local-style teriyaki chicken, macaroni salad, and rice along with Las Vegas-sized burgers and hot dogs, cold beer, wine and other beverages. The University of Hawai‘i Rainbow Marching Band, under the direction of Gwen Nakamura, pumped up the crowd and got tailgaters to “paddle”, sing along and cheer.

Almost every tailgater that attended was decked out in UH attire. Rainbowtique was there showcasing their newest H-wear gear. Sunny skies and comfortable temperatures served as the backdrop for one of the most fun events of the year at The Cal and Main Street. UHF Marketing and Communications Specialist Timothy Ing captured these scenes from the tailgate.
