UH Mānoa alumni demonstrated a strong and powerful network in Washington, DC on Thursday, July 9 at Johnny’s Half Shell. More than 70 alumni listened to Dr. Maya Soetoro-Ng, Jennifer Sabas and Sean Callahan speak about their illustrious careers. It was a fantastic opportunity to network and meet other UH Mānoa alumni in the area. Dean Denise Konan from the College of Social Sciences hosted the night.

Alumni attending the event commented that they loved meeting new people and networking and enjoyed the great conversations and yummy food.

A University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa student group hosted a high-powered civics lesson for students and the community. The students, known as the DKI Leaders in Action, and named after for the late Senator Daniel K. Inouye, coordinated the public viewing of an event featuring former Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Colin Powell.

The joint lecture in July 2015 was the inaugural event for the Library of Congress Daniel K. Inouye Annual Lecture Series. It was moderated by journalist Ann Compton at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, and was live streamed to UH and beyond.
