UHAA–East members David Liu and ‘Io Cabanos appreciate the
entertainment and camaraderie at the Christmas and
Holiday Party in NYC.

UHAA–East collaborated with Hālāwai – New York’s Hawai‘i community organization – for the Second Annual Christmas and Holiday Party on Dec. 9 at Connolly’s Pub & Restaurant in midtown Manhattan. Despite freezing temperatures outside, the live, nostalgic Hawaiian music, expressive hula and heartfelt stories filled the room with a warm aloha spirit. Hula students from Gracious Ladies Hula Hui, Pua Ali‘i ‘Ilima and UHAA–East performed and shared stories honoring their kumu (teachers and source). More than 100 – ranging from keiki to kupuna – gathered and celebrated the holiday season together.
