2014 Pre-School Play Day
The Board members of KCCAFA spent the morning of April 11 providing staff support at the Annual Pre-School Play Day at Mānoa Elementary School. This event was sponsored by the Department of Education and Head Start Programs, in cooperation with Special Olympics.Translated in numbers, the event brought together approximately 900 3-4 year-olds with physical challenges from 40 schools on O‘ahu. The keiki challenged themselves to games and activity that kept them busy and active – from ball and ring tosses, to face painting and tattooing, to jumping and crawling activities. The morning ended with a large picnic with lots of sharing and laughter.
The KCCAFA volunteers pledged to help again next year. It is an incredible experience to see the looks of triumph of the young and physically challenged, even if for one day.
