Robin Miller (BEd ’76) and Patricia Lewis
In 1974/75 I was a student in UH Mānoa’s College of Education, playing basketball for the UH JV team, and living at the Atherton House YMCA. I met a beautiful young woman, Pat, at the Atherton House who lived across the hall from my room. She was from Pennsylvania and was attending UH for one year in the National Student Exchange Program.
We started out as friends, but after spending time together and sharing our thoughts and dreams we fell in love. It seemed wherever we would be out at a restaurant together near the campus, the Elvis Presley song, “Can’t help falling in love with you,” would play. That became our song.
We married in August of 1976 after we both graduated, me from UH and her from West Chester University in PA. It is now 2018 and we have celebrated 42 years of marriage, have two grown sons, and three grandsons. We are currently treating ourselves spending 42 days on Oahu retracing our steps together when we first met. It all started at UH and with that Elvis Presley song. Mahalo!
