Letterwinners celebrate homecoming, congratulate student-athletes

The 2012 Homecoming weekend kicked off with the Homecoming Fair on Friday, Oct. 12 at Clarence T.C. Ching Field, and the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Letterwinners Club (UHMLWC) was there to celebrate. Students participated in games, ate delicious food and enjoyed the entertainment in this free event while Letterwinners Club members graciously volunteered their time to work in the UHMLWC booth. Members distributed free water bottles to the many students who attended.

The next day, UHMLWC hosted a tailgate before the Homecoming football game. Members gathered for a potluck in the Aloha Stadium parking lot and enjoyed great food before cheering on the Warriors against New Mexico.

UH Mānoa’s mid-year commencement ceremony was held on Saturday, Dec. 15 in the Stan Sheriff Center. The UH Mānoa Letterwinners Club hosted a pre-commencement gathering to celebrate all of the student-athletes who participated in the ceremony. At the gathering, student-athletes received their prestigious and exclusive white “H” emblem stoles that are only bestowed upon student-athletes who have earned their degree. The stoles were made possible by a generous $2,500 donation to the UHMLWC from American Savings Bank. American Savings Bank Executive Vice President Gabe Lee attended the pre-commencement gathering to personally honor the student-athletes. Mahalo to Gabe Lee and UHMLWC board member Riley Mende for their generous contribution.
