​Two Hawai‘i chefs make James Beard semifinals

Selected from more than 20,000 online entries in 21 categories, Town restaurant’s Ed Kenney was recognized as a semifinalist in the Best Chef: West division, alongside Michelle Karr-Ueoka of MW Restaurant, a semifinalist in the Outstanding Pastry Chef division.

The James Beard Foundation presents awards in 59 categories — awards are given not only to restaurants and chefs, but also for restaurant design and books, broadcast, and journalism.

Final nominees will be announced March 15, and awardees will be honored at the James Beard Awards Gala in Chicago on May 2.
