Paraprofessional - Hawaii Island

Location: Hawaii Island

Hale Kipa is looking for Paraprofessional staff to work alongside Therapists who are assigned to youth/young adults between the ages of 3-21 years of age, referred by the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Division. Their work focuses on supporting the services and goals of the Mental Health Treatment Plan by providing individualized, mental health services to the youth. Paraprofessionals must have the ability to engage youth and families, have knowledge of the community, and be creative. This program focuses on strengthening families and increasing their utilization of community resources. Paraprofessionals often transport youth to appointments, activities, and anything else that supports the youth’s goals.


Additionally, Paraprofessionals need to possess solid communication skills, both verbally and in writing; and need to work as part of a team with the Therapist and all other collaterals involved with the youth. They are responsible for submitting timely documentation in the agency's electronic health record and need to attend supervision meetings with the Therapist.

The Paraprofessional is a fee-for-service position. This means work is assigned when it is available and based on the needs of the client(s). Hours per week may range from 0-20+.

  • Payrate: $16/hour
  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a human service field is required, as well as clinically supervised experience working with youth. Must meet credentialing requirements of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Division.
  • Requirements: Vehicle to transport youth, valid driver's license, auto insurance & safety check.
