Intensive Mentor - Leeward

Location: Ewa Beach, Oahu

Hale Kipa is looking for an Intensive Mentor to work with youth between the ages of 12-17, primarily in the Leeward area, who are currently on probation status with Family Court. The focus will be on providing individualized, wraparound prevention and intervention services to the youth and family. Services include providing various levels of support, counseling, teaching social skills, assisting with academic needs, working with other team members who are involved with the youth's services, and assisting the youth with following the conditions of his/her probation. Additionally, work to strengthen families and prevent further criminal/status offenses from occurring, are incorporated into the youth’s service plan. The Intensive Mentor will also provide transportation for the youth, taking him/her to appointments and other types of activities.


It is imperative that the Intensive Mentor have the ability to connect with youth, have knowledge of family and youth dynamics, as well as, knowledge of Hawaii’s System of Care, which is made up of any entity that provides services to youth, such as but not limited to: The Department of Human Services, Family Court, Department of Education, etc., and be knowledgeable about educational/vocational programs and alternative education. Intensive Mentors also need to effectively and consistently communicate with referral sources as well as collateral involved with the youth. Creativity, general computer skills, effective written and verbal communication, and timeliness with documentation requirements, are all skills that will enable the Intensive Mentor to be successful in the position.

  • Payrate: $15/hour
  • Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED is required as well as a minimum of 2 years of experience with youth.
  • Requirements: Vehicle, valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and safety check.
