About Hawai‘i CC’s Auto Body Repair and Painting program

The Auto Body Repair and Painting program offers vocational training to students desiring to gain knowledge, and develop skills and attitudes that will qualify them for employment in the auto body repair and painting industry and related occupations. Classroom and hands-on live lab training provides applied learning experiences aligned with current and emerging industry trends. The training will also help students progress from entry level work to higher skill levels in the trade. This program seeks to serve the community by providing job upgrading opportunities for professionals in the field. Graduates have found that completion of the Auto Body Repair and Painting program enables them to get better paying jobs and to advance faster once employed, than others who do not have the benefit of training.

The Hawai‘i Community College Auto Body Repair and Painting (ABRP) Program is of the largest Auto Body Programs in the State and is still growing. Their mission is to instill passion for the automotive industry in future generations. In attempt to reach current students, prospective students and alumni, the program faculty and department heads have been working hard to engage in community events, high school visits, demonstrations and career fairs.

About Hawai‘i CC’s Annual Auto Show

The First Annual Hawai‘i CC Auto Show was held in July 2017 and welcomed over 80 featured cars with nearly 400 people in attendance. The event was a huge success thanks to the faculty, alumni, and local businesses who committed to inspiring the next generation of industry professionals.

The Second Annual Auto Show 2018 program will be even bigger and organizers expect over 200 vehicles and show cars coming from the mainland and neighbor islands. Organizers have partnered with Hawaii Classic Cruizers and the Auto Show will be the last stop on a week-long circle island tour called “Cruise Paradise 2018.” This prestigious event comes to Hawai‘i Island every three years. The collaboration and partnership will help to catalyze and inspire more local youth to consider careers in the profession by showcasing aficionados and the best of the best in the trades.

The ABRP Program is committed to inspiring current and future generations of auto industry professionals. The 2018 Auto Show celebrates the past, highlighting the classic cars while embracing the future, reminding us all to do what we love and to have a little fun in our lives.
