Achieve & Earn Mentorship Program

Thank you for your interest in the Achieve & Earn (A&E) program!

Research shows that mentorship can play a crucial role in helping students transition successfully from high school to college. Mentors provide valuable support and guidance and help to build student’s confidence and self-efficacy, both critical skills linked to personal growth.

Achieve & Earn (A&E) is a new pilot program that aims to provide support to a cohort of Hawai‘i high school students across the state as they transition into college, focusing specifically on students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds and/or who don’t identify as college-going.

We’re partnering with the A&E Program to recruit alumni to serve as mentors for participating A&E students. Mentors will help mentees build their knowledge, network and skills to succeed towards a future that’s right for them.

How does the mentorship program work?

Alumni who are interested in serving as mentors are asked to complete the sign up form below. We will review submissions and contact you if you are selected to serve as an A&E mentor. Mentors will be provided with A&E mentorship guidelines and resources.

What's the time commitment?

Each student cohort will participate in the A&E program for a total of two years. Ideally, we are looking for alumni who are willing to serve as mentors for the full two years. However, we understand that not everyone can commit to two full years of mentorship. At minimum, we ask that mentors commit one year to the program.

During the course of the program, mentors will:

  1. Meet with assigned mentee(s) at least 3 times per year (3 hours total)
  2. Assist mentee(s) in completing at least two activities per year (i.e. completing a scholarship or FAFSA application, creating or updating their resume, conducting mock job interviews, etc.)
