Bay Area celebrates 12th Road Warriors Tailgate
2010 marked the Bay Area's 12th annual Road Warriors Tailgate on Oct. 9. More than 500 UH fans from California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Hawai‘i pregamed at Beiden Baseball Diamond near Fresno State.
L&L Barbeque completely sold out of its bbq chicken, kalua pig nachos & plate lunches, lumpia, hot dogs and hamburgers. Budweiser and Primo Beer were beverage sponsors. The UH cheerleaders stopped by to rile fans up at the tailgate before rallying a sold-out Hawai‘i section at the game, as the Warriors bested the Bulldogs 49-27.
UH athletics director Jim Donovan was on hand to present UHAA's 2010 Chapter of the Year Award to Daryl Higashi, Gerry Somers and Reid Yamamoto of the UHAA–San Francisco Bay Area chapter, which coordinated the event along with the Hawai'i Chamber of Commerce of Northern California, Rainbowtique and UHAA. Special thanks to California State University Maritime Academy Hawai‘i Club students, who helped with event setup and staffing.
The Bay Area's 13th annual tailgate will be at San Jose State in 2011.
