Award money for APDR3 and Washington, D.C. and NYC trips
The Asia Pacific Disaster Risk Reduction Resiliency Initiative (APDR3) has been awarded half a million dollars from the Ford Foundation, half a million dollars from the Rockefeller Foundation, and is expecting a matching grant from Chevron USA that will be presented at the United Nations on December 10. Hawai‘i Graduation Initiative, accreditation, travel schedule
and AUW campaign
Accreditation teams visited six of seven UH community colleges this month. Six teams consisting of about a dozen people visited the campuses as part of the university’s regular six-year accreditation cycle. MORE

Hawai‘i Space Flight Laboratory and AUW campaign
The university is on track to design, build, launch and control its own satellites through the the Hawai‘i Space Flight Laboratory, and I can proudly say that we have 153 active accounts across our O'ahu campuses for the Aloha United Way campaign. MORE

Windward CC library, Palamanui and UH Initiatives
Windward Community College officially opened its beautiful Library Learning Commons, Governor Abercrombie released $7.5 million in bonds to finance construction of Hawai'i Community College's Palamanui Campusi, and we are building our budget request on UH's three strategic initiatives. MORE
